Parktacular Dinner/Dance and Senior Coronation

Thursday, June 16: 4:30-8 pm
Reminisce with the music and dance of the 20's, 30's and 40's. A night of fun with socializing, eating, music, and dancing!  A performance with a little audience participation. The Steve Blons Ensemble includes guitar, bass, clarinet, and percussion. This handpicked group of accomplished musicians will entertain you as the Swing Cats demonstrate dances and invite you to dance with them. 55 and better/empty nesters invited. $17 per person. The Twin Cities is home to one of the premier Beatles tributes in the country! Rubber Soul covers the entire gamut, covering the early Beatles - British invasion, the psychedelic era of Sgt Pepper/Magical Mystery Tour and later Beatles, covering the "White Album" release through "Abbey Road/Let it Be." Their performance includes costume changes, as well as the use of authentic guitars, and amps which contribute to the overall presentation. Sponsored by Park Nicollet Health Services.

Friends of the Foundation Benefit for SLPCF

Friday, June 17: 5:30 - 7 pm
The sampling of several beers from one of the nation's highest acclaimed microbrewers is the centerpiece of this fundraising event benefiting the St. Louis Park Community Foundation (SLPCF). The SLPCF funds projects within the city of St. Louis Park, acting as an umbrella foundation for organizations like STEP, Meadowbrook Collaborative, Children First and many other nonprofits. SLPCF has granted more than $250,000 for projects in our city. This event is 21+ and advanced reservations are required as seating is very limited. SLP Sand Volleyball Tournament

Saturday, June 18: 8 am-8 pm
Sign up for the Sand Court Volleyball Tournament at Parktacular, sponsored by Park Tavern and St. Louis Park Parks and Recreation Department. This adult's only (18 or older) co-ed tournament will start at 8:00 a.m. rain or shine. Selection of play will be determined based on the number of registered teams. Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. Each team will play at least two games. Teams must be co-ed and have a minimum of six names, maximum of 10 names on the roster. At least two women must be on the court at all times. The tournament will be played using St. Louis Park League rules. Games will be officiated. Registration ends June 15, download the form.

Memorial Blood Center Blood Drive

Join others in making this important donation to assist people in our community. Each blood donor will receive a free door prize entry form! You are invited to enjoy Parktacular's TASTE OF ST. LOUIS PARK. Near the Rec Center entrance a large canopy will feature food vendors selling their best foods. Come to Parktacular hungry and thirsty! Under this canopy may be the tastiest place in town. Enjoy delicious food from area restaurants!

Kids Eco Fair at Parktacular

10 am-Noon - DNR Kids Fishing Clinic
Noon–6pm - Family Fishing
2–6 pm - Eco Fair Hands-on activities
Come early for the fishing clinic with the Minnesota DNR as hosts. Kids will learn how to cast, identify fish and actually throw a line in to catch real fish off of the Wolfe Park Fish Pier. Rods and bait are provided free!

This year's hands-on activity-filled Eco Fair will be jam-packed with environmental oriented fun. Look for us in the Southwest Picnic Shelter in Wolfe Park, right next to the fishing pier. We will have pond and aquarium critters you can examine, provided by Westwood Hills Naturalists. We also have our 25' climbing wall back for those adventurous folks who want some outdoor exercise. Abrakadoodle will be here to help us paint; Eureka Recycling will be back with their bean bag toss,and last but certainly not least, our popular pot-a-plant station will be in full swing so you can pot a beautiful flower to bring home to plant in your yard. Chops Drum & Bugle Corps Concert

Parktacular is thrilled to present this FREE concert. Chops, Inc. is comprised of Chopstix Percussion, Top Chops Brassline, and Hot Chops Colorguard. They perform every summer throughout Minnesota and the Midwest in community festivals and parades, drum & bugle corps shows, and other events. They are a community-based organization from the Minneapolis area with members ranging from high school students on up to adults that still enjoy performing. You'll be clapping and tapping your feet at this concert for sure!!

Water Slides and Inflatables

Saturday, June 18: 2-6 pm
Come to Parktacular with your swimsuit! For just $15 purchase a wristband for unlimited rides/use of the many water slide and inflatable attractions, including the Gone Surfin' Shark Slide, 33 feet tall. Or test your abilities with the Adrenaline Rush Obstacle Course and 9 hole Mini-Golf. Or engage in Water Wars with friend, or enjoy the Lil' Splash Water Slide, Spongebob Combo Bouncer, and Buccaneer Inflatable. One part trampoline, one part bungee jump, the four harness Eurobungy will challenge even the bravest among us! ALL AGES, swimwear is required for waterslides. $1 per ticket or $15 unlimited wristband. Eurobungy $7, separate of wristband. ATM machine available in the Rec Center.

Chalk Drawing Contest

Saturday, June 18: 2-4 pm
Kids, put your creative talents to the test in this new event. Starting at Noon, check in at the Chalk Drawing Contest table at Information Booth #2 (on south side of park) to claim your square and pick up your chalk. We have limited squares - first come, first serve. Your picture must represent what Parktacular means to you, no gang symbols, no foul words, no foul pictures or shapes allowed. Drawings will be judged by Parktacular staff. Prizes will be awarded in two age groups- two age groups - ages 5-11, and ages 12-18.

Kids Fest has tons of exciting FREE activities for kids of all ages! There's the Fantasy Corral Petting Zoo sponsored by SLP Noontime Rotary, strolling cartoon characters, magician, Pony Rides ($2), St. Louis Park Police and Fire Departments, face painters, tattoos, water slip 'n slide (you must have your swimsuit on for this), and more! MN Humane Society Adoption Day

Come see the fantastic and lovable animals that need loving homes. The MN Humane Society will be there to explain and help you through the adoption process. Parktacular Miniature Art Treasure Hunt

Awards Saturday, June 18: 4 pm
The Parktacular Art hunt is back! On June 2, 2011 ten original artworks will be hidden in the public parks of St. Louis Park and you are invited to find them. Each winner gets to keep the art and win a prize, awarded at the Parktacular event. To find visual photo clues, updates and photo of the hunt visit the artist's website, www.williamhessian.com. The artwork is hidden in plain sight, but finding hidden art is not as easy as it might sound as the miniature paintings are only 1 inch by 1.5 inches. View more information and park locations.

Skatepark Competition sponsored by City of SLP

Saturday, June 18: 5 -7 pm
Participate in the fourth annual skateboard series sponsored by 3rd Lair Skate Park. Participants compete against other skateboarders at skate parks across the Twin Cities. Points will be given to each competitor based on their final standings during each contest. Winners of each division in each contest will receive passage to the Midwest Melee held at 3rd Lair near the end of summer. All ages and abilities, participants will be divided into three levels to match ability. 3rd Lair Skate Park is an independent business and not affiliated with the City of St. Louis Park. This event is included as a service to the residents of St. Louis Park. $10 per person, accepted day of event only
