What's Cool for Kids and Teens
Parktacular is a family event with special focus on children of all ages. The following list includes the variety of activities appropriate for children and teens. In addition, see the full listing of Parktacular events under Schedule tab.
The following events are FREE unless otherwise indicated.
Miniature Art Hunt Two weeks prior to the start of the Parktacular celebration, local artist William Hessian creates and places miniature art pieces around in the parks in SLP. Starting June 2, clues are posted on www.williamhessian.com. Find one of the pieces and report back to William. Winners are recognized on Saturday, June 18, at 4 pm. at the Wolfe Park Amphitheater. Keep your art and receive an additional prize.
Swimmin' to the Beat
Enjoy private swimming to the beat of a DJ with fun music, games and prizes. We've extended the hours on this "Splash into Summer" event that kicks of the weekend celebration of FUN!. Admission is free with a Parktacular Button (for sale on site) or $5. Rec Center pool passes are not valid for this event. Due to the pool closing through June 24th, this event will be rescheduled to a later to be determined date. Stay tuned!
Water Slides and Inflatables
Back by popular demand, Parktacular is offering Water Slides and Inflatables for all ages. We will have 7 water slide and inflatable attractions, including the Giant Gone Fishin' Shark Slide, sure to be a wet and wild time! Swimsuits are required for waterslides. For $15, purchase a wristband that allows you unlimited access to all the attractions. Or buy individual tickets for $1 each, most rides 2 tickets. Saturday, June 18, 2 - 6 pm. ATM machine available in the Rec Center.
Chalk Drawing Contest
Kids, put your creative talents to the test in this new event. In each square, draw what Parktacular means to you. Prizes will be awarded in two age groups. Saturday, June 18: 2-4 pm
Fishing clinic
Come early for the fishing clinic with the Minnesota DNR as hosts. Kids will learn how to cast, identify fish and actually throw a line in to catch real fish off of the Wolfe Park Fish Pier. Rods and bait are provided free! Saturday, June 18, 10 am. - noon

Four Station Eurobungy
NEW this year, this combination trampoline/bungee jump ride will have kids and teens lining up to try! For $7 per ride, you can harness up and jump around like you never have before. June 18, 2-6 pm. ATM in Rec Center
Kids Eco Fair
For the environmentally conscious and those wanting to learn more, this year's hands-on activity-filled Eco Fair will be jam-packed with fun. Look for us in the Southwest Picnic Shelter in Wolfe Park, right next to the fishing pier. Saturday, June 18, 2 - 6 pm.
Kids Fest
Kids Fest has tons of exciting activities for kids of all ages! There's the Fantasy Corral Petting Zoo, pony rides, strolling cartoon characters, magician, face painters, tattoos, and more. After the parade, join us on the south side of Wolfe Park, Saturday, June 18, 2 - 6 pm.
Giant Slip ' n' Slide
Wear your suit and slip down the water filled slide. Limited to kids up to age 16, please. Located on the south side of Wolfe Park, Saturday, June 18, 2 - 6 pm.
Skate Park Competition
A kick-off to the summer competition season, Third Lair, sponsors this fascinating competition. Come to the Skate Park near the slide end of the pool to watch and learn. Register at the event, $10 per person. Saturday, June 18, 5 pm.
