Ambassador Program
 The 2009 Parktacular Ambassadors
The St. Louis Park Parktacular Ambassador Program is looking for candidates for its ambassador positions. If your child would like to...
Serve the community in a multitude of ways including activities that we do on a regular basis (at least yearly) which are:
-
Neighborhood Night Out at Louisiana Courts: serve food, cleanup, run games, face paint
- Leaders Launching Learners with the Salvation Army: helping students pick out and purchase clothing for the school year.
- STEP: Sorting and distributing food
- Empty Bowls: purchase and create bowls for the event and act as greeters for both lunch and dinner hours
- Bell Ringing for Salvation Army at Cub Foods: Our group takes an entire day and covers at least one kettle. In 2008, we were the KOOL 108 Bell Ringers of the Day, to honor our longstanding commitment to the program.
- Minnehaha Creek/Park cleanup
- Children First Ice Cream Social: promoting the Parktacular, the Ambassador program, and scooping ice cream.
As Ambassadors, we visit communities in the Twin Cities area and western Wisconsin. Besides representing the festival, we promote the City of St. Louis Park and the excellent schools. As an inclusive program, we are one of two communities (Hopkins being the other) who have representation from children, young adults, and seniors. We are also the only program who has consistently had young men representing the City, as well as racial and ethnic diversity. Many other communities admire how we are so successful in getting a cross-section of the citizens of our city to represent our own community. We believe that our Ambassadors are public servants and are to show St. Louis Park as a place where all ages, religions, and ethnicities can live, learn, and participate in a strong community, which is well represented by the Parktacular Festival.
Your child will also have the opportunity to meet other children and young adults while involved in candidate activities such as roller skating, bowling, and picnics and appear in the Parktacular Parade on June 19. They will learn to be comfortable with public speaking and learn relationship-building skills.
If this is something your child would be interested in, please consider becoming a candidate for the 2010 Ambassador Program.
